WRC wanted a short, emotive film that would highlight issues with the UK Gov Nationality and Borders Bill and increase awareness of Welsh Govt policy in comparison with Westminster hostility and increase awareness of the The Welsh Refugee Council.
Working with highly charged and sensitive material, we collaborated with refugees and asylum seekers to create an emotive video that got to the heart of the threat they faced from the new bill. The timetable for the bill was brought forward during development. This gave us a tight turnaround of only a few days to develop, script and shoot the campaign on a tight budget.
Winner of The Best Charity Film 2022, Smiley Charity Film Awards, The film was recognised as the best charity film of 2023 by the unanimous verdict of 64 judges at The Smiley Charity Film Awards. The team received the prize at a star studded ceremony in London at The Odeon Leicester Square. Compered by comedian Tom Allen with awards presented by Jason Watkins, Sadie Frost, Arlene Phillips and AJ and Curtis Pritchard, the ceremony celebrated charities from across the UK, with competitors such as Shelter, Mind, Save the Children and Barnardo’s also nominated.
