In another collaboration with Welsh Refugee Council, bak created an emotive film which asked the audience to put themselves in the shoes of a refugee who is forced to leave their home at a moment’s notice. By cleverly flipping the narrative on making UK passport holders the centre of the film, we wanted to jolt the audience out of nay compassion fatigue and make them think about their oven lives and how anyone can be turned into a refugee at a moment’s notice. The script drilled down into the simple and practical implications of having to flee your country; what would you take with you at a moment’s notice. The responses were all unique, forcing the audience to confront both the uniqueness (‘what would I take?’ and universality (‘Your life can change at a moment’s notice’) and go on an imaginative journey.
The bilingual film and a longer version was produced with the aim of using it as a resource in workshops and screenings across the country.
atch the film below if you can. What would you take with you if you had to suddenly flee the country?
