Branding, website, communications and strategy, design, film and social media: To create a unique festival of football culture for football lovers everywhere, one that could celebrate football’s contribution to culture, controversy and social cohesion.

The challenge was to create a design language and messaging that pressed all the right buttons for our core audience of football fans. Our visuals and messaging had to be both nostalgic, tapping into the magic of football legends and lore at the same time as looking forward and not shying away from contemporary controversy.

Guests included Ian Rush, Davor Šuker, Laura MacCallister, Jesse Marsch, Robert Earnshaw, Brian Flynn, Neville Southall, David Conn (The Guardian/Netflix), Davor Šuker, Megan Ferings, Roopa Vyas, Igor Stimac, Gruff Rhys, Eleri Sion and Adrian Chiles. Every day there were live broadcasts, film premieres, debates and music celebrating all aspects of football culture.

Over 1,500 football lovers attended the first festival in Wrexham. Our organic content reached an audience of nearly 1,500,000 with an engagement of 7.06%. The festival featured on ITV and BBC with Adrian Chiles’ Friday morning show going out live on Radio 5 from the festival site.

“An amazing programme of football and culture at the Wal Goch (Red Wall) festival in north Wales this weekend.“

David Conn, The Guardian
